Yakumonuri lacquerware, a traditional craft product designated by the governor of Shimane Prefecture

On Yakumonuri lacquerware, patterns are depicted with various colored lacquer, mother-of-pearl, and gold or silver powder on lacquered base material. Fine natural transparent lacquer is overlaid on it and then finished with a traditional polishing technique. As years go by, the transparent lacquer becomes clearer making the patterns more magnificent.

After drawing grapes with black lacquer, gold leaf is pasted on, kijiro lacquer is overlaid, and it is finished with a technique unique to Yakumonuri lacquerware. Desk items can be stored neatly.

●As each item is hand-made one-by-one, color and texture may differ slightly from the photos.
