The painting is created using the "sometsuke technique", a traditional technique of Setoyaki ware.
Each item is entirely hand-made one by one - a pigment called zaffer is used for underglaze decoration on the unglazed base, then the steps of glazing, firing and over-glazing, where vivid colors such as red, gold etc. and delicate lines are drawn on, are performed.

With its different-looking large bell and standing-up ears, this is popular among customers who are looking for a unique Maneki Neko.
Since the Edo period, Maneki Neko are widely loved as a lucky charm that brings money and people. When the right hand is raised it is said to bring you money and when the left hand it raised it is said to bring people.
