The manufacturer's company was founded in 1872. Initially, they produced indigo-dyed textiles that were used for long-johns in farming. Indigo dyed yarn, created using a technique that has remained unchanged since then called skein dyeing, is woven for the fabric.
It features the unique color shades of indigo, stripes that appear naturally and the texture of cotton material that are all unique to Kojimaya! A bushu-sho indigo-dyed bear.

[Asagi]
In indigo dyeing, pale indigo color is called "asagi". The "aojima" fabric is plain colored yet the uneven indigo-dyed thread gives it a striped appearance. Its flat texture gives it a distinctive look.
