Nara brushes are designated a traditional craft product by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. They are crafted using a traditional technique called "nerimaze". Raw hairs are individually soaked in water in order to harden them. Hairs are mixed thoroughly according to the proper combinations and measurements. The finished tips are excellent due to the careful crafted process. Each brush is handcrafted by a certified traditional artisan in Nara. This medium head brush is for kaisho, gyosho and sosho on hanshi/jofuku. Its head is made of 100% sheep hair, and provides a gentle writing sensation. A luxury sheep hair called "saikoho" is used for the brush head. It soaks ink well and is very appropriate for when you write running and grass style characters on Hanshi and Jofuku. For intermediate as well as experienced calligraphers.
