Nara brushes are designated a traditional craft product by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. They are crafted using a traditional technique called "nerimaze". Raw hairs are individually soaked in water in order to harden them. Hairs are mixed thoroughly according to the proper combinations and measurements. The finished tips are excellent due to the careful crafted process. Each brush is handcrafted by a certified traditional artisan in Nara. This medium head brush is for kaisho, gyosho and sosho on hanshi/jofuku. As hairs around the brush neck are made from tough akamao horse tail hair, you can easily write squared style characters as it provides a steady writing sensation as if it's bouncing back. Also, it soaks sumi ink well due to the sheep hair also included in the materials. It easily writes both on hanshi and jofuku. For calligraphers of all levels.
