People a long time ago lived under clouds which they felt were spiritual. Clouds were thought to be a place where heavenly beings and Buddha resided and a realm that connected the heavens and earth. They also appear a lot in classical Japanese literature.

Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, famous for hagiyaki ware and its castle, is a fishing town that faces the Japan Sea. Iwakawa Hataten was established more than 100 years ago. It specializes in the production of flags, curtains and banners, while carefully hand-making original accessories, hand towels, etc, using dyed Tairyobata fabric.
